Bit-Level Object-Oriented Programming
نویسنده
چکیده
Object-oriented programming languages have always distinguished between \primitives" and \user-deened" data types, and in the case of languages like C++ and Java, the prim-itives are not even treated as objects, further fragmenting the programming model. Meanwhile, hardware design languages like VHDL and Verilog provide extensive bit-level facilities but lack the abstraction capabilities of object-oriented programming because they are not straightforwardly syn-thesizable. We present Bit-Level Object-Oriented Programming (BLOOP), a language extension that allows a single object model to be used consistently from the bit level on up, combining the abstraction facilities of high-level object-oriented programming languages with the explicit control of hardware design languages. We present BLOOP as a modi-cation to the Java language, and show how it can be used to provide an executable or synthesizable speciication of operations on \primitive" data types.

Declarative Semantics in Object-Oriented Software Development - A Taxonomy and Survey
One of the modern paradigms to develop an application is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles in applications. In an application, we must distinguish between procedural semantics and declarative semantics for their implementation in a specific programming language. For the procedural semantics, we can write a ...

Researchers have developed a large variety of semantic models of object-oriented computations. These include object calculi as well as denotational, small-step operational, big-step operational, and reduction semantics. Some focus on pure object-oriented computation in small calculi; many others mingle the object-oriented and the procedural aspects of programming languages. In this paper, we pr...

Modeling and simulation of processing plants are widely used in industry. Construction of a mathematical model for a plant is a time-consuming and error-prone task. In light of extensive advancements in computer science (both hardware and software), computers are becoming a necessary instrument in industrial activities. Many software tools for modeling, simulation and optimization of proces...

In modern programming languages, genericity allows abstracting over types, enabling programmers to develop algorithms and data structures regardless of the data being handled. This tremendeously improves productivity and code reuse. Although generics offer a uniform programming experience accross different types, the actual data comes in different sizes and shapes. For example, we can equally i...
